Joyful Noise - a young children's choir ages 3 - 5 rehearses every other Thursday from 10:15 to 10:45 a.m. and runs from September through June. This group is for provides an opportunity for children to learn (and to love) to sing, to clap and tap and move to music, to play instruments such as rhythm instruments, Boomwhackers, and hand chimes, and to be part of a preschool group who always “make a joyful noise.” Although the main focus of Joyful Noise is the fun we have and the music we make at rehearsals, we do perform at Smith Church three times throughout the year at the 10:30 worship service – usually once at Christmas time, once around Easter, and once at the close of the musical season in June. Joyful Noise is directed by Barbara Daley. Learn basic rhythm and the joy of singing.
His Kids - is a musical singing group for youth in grades K-5. His Kids meet every Wednesday night for rehearsal from 5:15 - 6 PM at SMITH CHURCH. We work hard learning our pieces and singing two-part music, and also have a huge amount of fun with motions, movement, and musical fun songs and games. We usually schedule performances once a month from October through early June. His Kids will be directed by Clara Segedy and Josline Watkins.
Come and have fun singing with your friends! Visit area churches and share your music.
Dynamic Disciples - an ecumenical, non-denominational youth choir for kids from grades 6-12. Rehearsals every Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Smith Church from September until June. Share your musical message with area churches.
This is a small, but great group of excellent musicians, many of whom are in the middle school or high school choruses. If you don’t know how to read music yet, don’t worry – you will learn to sing 3-part and 4-part music in a very encouraging, supportive, and fun environment. Dynamic Disciples is currently looking for a director – if you are interested or know someone who might be interested in directing, please let Barbara Daley or the music committee know right away. Clara Segedy and Josline Watkins are going to be facilitating the beginning of Dynamic Disciples this year and they are hoping that by a group of teenagers demonstrating their enthusiasm and dedication to singing all on their own, that someone might be inspired to step up to direct them.
